Twilight Blu-Ray

'Twilight' Director: György Fehér (1992) Second Run Blu-Ray | Cinematographer-approved 4K restoration | Region Free |  Staff Pick  | Hungarian w/ English subtitles

In the dense and murky woodlands of provincial Hungary, the search for a child murderer drags a once-respected detective into an all-consuming obsession enshrouded by irresolution and despair, even long after he has been taken off the case. What emerges is not a crime story, but a harrowing venture through the darkness of the human soul.

Less a noirish police procedural and more an existential horror, Twilight operates with spectral camera movements that glide through and over a gunmetal grey world enveloped by shadows and fog. Based on the writings of Swiss author Friedrich Dürrenmatt and with Béla Tarr as consultant, György Fehér’s hypnotic, transcendent adaptation is a unique and haunting experience with breathtaking cinematography and sonorous sound design.
