Why this kit matters

JDS Osumi (LST-4001) is the lead ship of the Osumi-class landing ship tank, commissioned into the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force in the late 1990s. Designed to transport vehicles, troops, and supplies, it supports amphibious operations and humanitarian missions.

The Osumi-class reflects Japan's shift toward multi-role naval platforms focused on mobility, disaster relief, and regional security. This model offers builders a modern alternative to traditional WWII warships, highlighting contemporary naval design and operational needs.
