Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939) Blu-ray

'The Hunchback of Nortre Dame' Director: William Dieterle (1939) Warner Bros. Blu-ray

Charles Laughton plays Quasimodo — the mocked and vilified bellringer of Notre Dame in 15th-century Paris — in one of his most nuanced and heartrending performances. Maureen O'Hara is the compassionate Esmeralda, whose simple act of pity frees the emotions within him until he becomes involved in a fight for justice with the twisted magistrate.

With huge sets, rousing action scenes and a versatile throng portraying a medieval Paris of cutthroats, clergy, beggars and nobles, William Dieterle's adaptation of Victor Hugo's famous Gothic novel remains one of Hollywood's all-time grandest spectacles.

Special features include:

• Interview with Maureen O'Hara
